My AHA moments # 5

The biggest AHA moment from this class was the social bookmarking. I really didn't think that I would use this tool much after I did the assignment. But, I have actually enjoyed using this and I hope to continue to build on the 50 + sites that we needed for the class.

My second AHA came from United Streaming! I loved this site and I hope I can downloaded as much as possible before my account is up! If not, maybe I can talk the school I plan to work for into buying a membership so that other teachers can enjoy this wonderful site of information! What a great way to implement technology into your classroom!

Last, but not least, I will have to reiterate my enjoyment of the Altec site! This provides so much information and in so many different ways!

I also liked the Google Tools and the Power Point Games!

Ten New Websites for Health/PE

These are just a few of the websites I can use for my curriculum in Health and Pe.
http://www.tandalay.com/?gclid=CKWh7Zio_YsCFQGPWAodhjNtaw- Great for lesson plans and activities.

ALTEC # 3

This was one of my favorite sites! I had actually been introduced to this website through an Intro to computers class. I found that they had added several new links to this site. My favorite would have to be the Casa Notes and QuizStar which provide a wealth of ideas for quizzes, puzzles, certificates, awards, and much more. The Kids' Vid will be a neat tool for my daughter to use when she starts doing projects at school! I also think that the Assign-A-Day tool is handy to use so that parents, students, and teachers can all be on the same page and keep up with assignments.

Apple Learning Interchange with Teacher #2

I really liked the Apple Learning Interchange site. It provided some great tools for technology learning. I shared this site with L. Nittler at Medicine Lodge High School. She felt it would be a great site for new ideas and providing her students with fresh ways to integrate technology.

Apple Learning Interchange

This is a pretty cool site! I really liked the mLearning! What a neat tool. This should be on everyone's social bookmarking site!

High School.com

I really think that this is where education is headed. There will be classes via Internet or ITV. The thought of traditional classrooms will eventually be one of the past. This will effect the number of teachers needed and many will be replaced by the Internet or a TV. I really hope that this doesn't completely take away the care and interaction of the teacher with their students, because the social aspect is part of learning.

Don't just adapt technology, adopt it!

I would like to see the one-on-one implementation of technology in education, but the money is the largest factor holding us back. Access to the Internet and keeping up with technical upgrades would be a constant reassessing of equipment. Responsiblity to taking care of the technology would be a large issue because of the way many students treat textbooks and other personal belongings.

NETS

This article talked about a 20-year commitment to technology. This is great, but technology changes happen every 12-18 months! I would like to see more of a focus included on technology standards if education is supposed to help bring our students into the 21st century.

National Education Technology Plan

Everyone recognizes the need to integrate technology into our education system. Everyone says that they will use it. But no one provides the money needed to keep up with the changing needs and costs of technology in order to give our students the boost they need to be at the top of the tech world.

US school lag behind in use of technology

I think that teachers need to have training on technology in order to keep up with the changes needs of our students. We have to have continuing education on our curriculum, we also need training on upgrading our technology skills. I am not sure how I feel about the laptops yet. I see some good by providing technology to those students who can't afford it at home or are not close to a library. Laptops are also a good organizer and limit the costs of textbooks and repairs.
On the other hand, plagiarizing is already a problem and having access to the internet would only help the students copy and paste information faster.
